Storage and maintenance:

Store the ice-claws indoors, protected from sunlight, when you don't use them.
Preferably on a dry place to avoid corrosion on tips over time.
Clean iceclaws with water and soap if needed. Use no solvent.

Spare parts:

There are no spare parts to Hansadubben.
If any part breaks, then the complete product is to be considered worn down and shall be disposed of.
Expected life time is 10-20 years if used normally and stored correctly.

Annual check:

Check that the ropes are not damaged by pulling them lightly.
To roll ropes back on to handles: Click in handles in holders. Rotate the handle while the rope end is held straight out, and the ropes will roll up neatly around the handle. If rolled this way they will also come out without jam as they should when the ice claws are being used.
Also check that the handles are firmly fixed in the holder and don't fall out.
Check plastic material in handles and holder so there are no signs of heavy wear, discoloration or cracks.
If any of the components shows obvious signs of heavy wear, discoloration or cracks, the product shall be scrapped.

What the product gives protection from, and what it does not protect from.

Stepping out on the ice of a frozen lake or sea always brings the risk of falling through the ice.
If you fall through the ice there is a risk that you will drown or freeze to death if you can't get up.
IMPORTANT: Ice claws do NOT reduce the risk of falling through the ice!
Ice claws is an equipment to make it easier to get back up on the ice if you have fallen through.
Wearing ice claws does not guarantee that you can get back up on the ice. If the ice is very thin, or has bad quality, or if you are not strong enough, or if you can't swim then maybe you can't get back up on the ice using only iceclaws.
So do not rely only on the ice claws for your safety on the ice.
Other important ways of reducing the risk of injury or death from ice activities are:
-Search for information about the ice you are going to visit. Find out the thickness and if there are any areas known for having thinner ice?
- Follow an experienced ice guide if you do not have enough knowledge and experience yourself.
-Always go with a friend or two so you can help each other to get up or call for help if needed.
-Always bring a rescue line that can be used to assist other people in your group if they should fall through the ice.
-Always bring a waterproof phone so you can call for help if needed.
-Always wear a buoyancy aid. For example a life jacket.
-Always bring ice probes to investigate the thickness and quality of the ice. Hack the ice regularly and especially if you see cracks or changes in the color or surface of the ice.
-Always bring extra clothes in a waterproof bag. If you can't switch to dry clothes after coming back up on the ice, you will freeze and get injured or die anyway.
-Always check the weather forecast before going out on the ice.
-Be aware that the wind can make large areas of ice blow away. Especially offshore wind can make large areas of ice get loose from land and blow away out from shore.
-Tell your relatives back home about your plans and when you plan to be back on land. Let them know when you actually are back.
